Cypripedium margaret

Cypripedium 'Margaret'

New!
(Cypripedium kentuckiense x C. candidum) x C. 'Rita Alba'

The Rita Alba in this cross is a variation on Cypripedium x andrewsii where the parviflorum of that cross is from a woman's garden. A woman named Rita. She had a makasin form of Cypripedium parviflorum var. parviflorum from Vermont. When we crossed it with C. candidum we named the resulting plant after her.

These are nice small to medium lady-slippers that mostly have white pouches and dark tendrils, however we have seen some variation with a light yellow pouch here and there. This is another quadruple cross so expect good vigor with these plants as well.

Zones 4-7. 10-16 in. Light shade, cool, moist, rich well-drained soil.

We are offering 2 sizes:

  • Blooming-sized plants have at least one large blooming stem and well-developed root system.
  • Near-Blooming plants have a well-developed root system and are at least 1-2 years away from blooming.
