THIMBLEBERRY

Similar to Rubus odoratus but with fragrant, showy pure white flowers. The velvety soft multi-lobed leaves provide a nice pop of color in the fall. The berries ripen in late summer and are more edible than R. odoratus. The stems are not prickly and have a light brown shredded bark that gives them some winter interest. Grown from seed collected in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where the berries are used for jams and even pies. Great for the back edge of a shade garden or bordering the woods. It will spread by rhizomes and suckers.

We are offering blooming-sized plants grown in 1/2 gallon pots.

Zones 4-10. 3-7 ft. Full sun to part shade, rich moist to seasonally dry soil.
